Quechua is the name given to a number of native South American languages and dialects which derive from the source-language known as Proto-Quechua. It is spoken in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, and has an estimated 8-10 million speakers (possibly more). Some native speakers refer to Quechua by its original Incan name of Runa simi.
