The state of Tennessee is located in the Southeastern United States.

It was admitted to the Union in 1796 as the 16th state, later earning the nickname 'the Volunteer State’ because of the prominent role played by volunteer soldiers from Tennessee in the War of 1812.

Interestingly, the Kid's 1833 birth in Tennessee occurs exactly 100 years before fellow Tennesseean McCarthy's own birth in 1933.
