The Savage has been forced to choose between two kinds of insanity – the lunacy of the new world which man has created, lacking morals or anything natural, or the insanity that comes from living life as a hermit, completely alone and detached from the world (Huxley wasn't a believer in pure sanity).

This is what Huxley believes our world will come to. In his foreword, he writes that the world will succumb to one of two fates: a totalitarian state with its civilians militarized, and kept in place by the threat of nuclear weapons, or a totalitarian state brought about by rapid technological progress (like the world of the novel).
