Qilakitsoq is an old Eskimo settlement in western Greenland, famous for the discovery of mummified bodies of women and children in 1972. The mummies, dating to the 15th century, were preserved by a cold wind blowing steadily through their tomb. They are now in the Greenland National Museum in Nuuk.
