Hue and Cry (1947) was the first of the Ealing comedies and starred Alastair Sim as Felix H. Wilkinson, a writer of boy's adventure stories. Set in bomb-damaged London, it sees a master crook outwitted by a gang of street boys. Laughter in Paradise (1951) also stars Alastair Sim. When a wealthy practical joker dies, he bequests money to four relatives on condition that they perform tasks that go contrary to their nature. Hilarious capers ensue.
