Grenoble is a city in south-east France, capital of the Dauphiné since the 11th century. It is known as the 'Capital of the Alps' owing to its location at the foot of the mountain range.

 

Genoa is a port city in northern Italy. Its Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was European City of Culture in 2004 and counts Christopher Columbus among its sons.
