"I bought land in Mebane, a small town just outside Burlington."

Mebane is a town with areas located in both Alamance and Orange County of North Carolina.  The town traces its roots to a post office established in 1809 later named Mabanesville in honor of General Alexander Mebane in 1881.  It was not until 1883 when the name was officially changed to Mebane.  Mebane was a historically industrial town home to the White Furniture Company.  Industrial firms such as mattress and clothing companies still remain today.  The city is also leader in the North Carolina tobacco market.
