Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson (1850 - 1894), was a Scottish poet, novelist, travel writer and essayist. He is most famous for his novels Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and for his poetry A Child's Garden of Verses. Stevenson also played and wrote music for the flageolet (a woodwind instrument, like a keyed soprano recorder).
