In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter, and a man of great beauty. But he was also disdainful of those that loved him, attracting the attentions of Nemesis, the bringer of retribution. She caused him to fall in love with his own reflection in a pool of water, and gazing at it, unable to ever leave, he died.
