Bukowski was often asked how to write by wannabe writers, this is an extract from his poetic reply. I thought it apt as the above quote was taken from a conversation between Chinaski and a wanna be writer, a fellow Post Office worker.
Extract from 'So you want to be a writer'
"if you first have to read it to your wife or your girlfriend or your boyfriend or your parents or to anybody at all, you're not ready.don't be like so many writers, don't be like so many thousands of people who call themselves writers, don't be dull and boring and pretentious, don't be consumed with self-love"
He inspired countless artists and even a few songs. Such as 'Bukowski' by Modest Mouse
