In Greek mythology, the god Zeus came to Leda, a queen of Sparta, in the form of a swan. So disguised, he seduced Leda on the same night she slept with her husband, King Tyndareus. Leda gave birth to two eggs, from which Helen (later of Troy), Clytemnestra, and the twins Castor and Pollux hatched.
