Alms giving is the religious rite of giving materially to another as an act of virtue. In Buddhism, alms or almsgiving is a mark of respect given by a lay Buddhist to a Buddhist monk or nun, and is not charity.

Alms bowl is used by bhikkhus for going on alms round or pindabat.
