"reciting Longfellow for a couple of pennies"

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was an American poet that lived in the 19th Century. He was born in Maine. He enjoyed reading and studies and graduated from Bowdoin College and later lectured there and at Harvard. He was criticised for writing for the masses and imitating the European styles, but that did not prevent him from being one of the most famous American poets of his time.
