The loquat is a fruit tree belonging to the family Rosaceae. It is native to China but has also been cultivated in India, Japan, the USA and several other parts of the world.
Loquat fruits are orange or yellow in colour, and can be oval, round or pear-shaped; they usually have a downy skin. When peeled, the loquat fruit can be eaten fresh or cooked. They are also used for jams and jellies.
