 Aram Khachaturian (1903-1978) was a composer who was born in what is now Tbilisi in Georgia. He moved to Moscow at the age of 19, graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1934, and remained in the city for the rest of his life.

He is particularly well-known for pieces from two of his ballets: Spartacus and Gayane.
