Michael Heseltine, who was born in 1933, was a U.K. Member of Parliament from 1966 to 2001. He held various ministerial positions in Margaret Thatcher's government between 1979 and 1986.
In 1990, he stood for the leadership of the Conservative Party, a move that led directly to Margaret Thatcher's downfall. He failed in his bid, but became Deputy Prime Minister under John Major in 1995.
