"About Maragert Sanger: 'She was judged by her looks, Susie. Because she looked like a mouse, no one expected her to last.'"

Margaret Sanger (1879–1966) was an activist for birth control and family planning, who published What Every Girl Should Know (1916) and What Every Mother Should Know (1917). She went on to open a family planning and birth control clinic in Brooklyn, and in 1921 founded the American Birth Control League.
