The Roman Catholic Church assigns symbolic meaning to each of the various elements of the church building, and the architecture can be highly complex. Catholic church interiors are usually full of ornate decoration, such as fine carving and gold leaf, in testament to God's glory, as well as paintings and life-like sculptures of saints, which are greatly honoured in their own right.

A reference to a line in the Lord's Prayer:

Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
