Helen of Troy is a figure in Greek mythology, whose abduction by Paris initiated the Trojan War.  Her beauty was legendary.

Margaret Sanger (1879–1966) was an activist for birth control and family planning, who published What Every Girl Should Know (1916) and What Every Mother Should Know (1917). She went on to open a family planning and birth control clinic in Brooklyn, and in 1921 founded the American Birth Control League.

Gloria Steinem (b.1934) is a social and political activist, feminist and journalist who was a prime spokesperson for the Women's Liberation Movement in the 1960s and 70s.

She is known for her strong and vocal support of abortion rights. In 2005 she co-founded the Women's Media Center, which works to "Make Women Visible and Powerful in the Media".

The Queen of the Underworld in Greek mythology, Persephone appeared in tales which explained the natural world and the seasons.

Daughter of Demeter, goddess of the Earth, she was said to have been abducted by Hades and taken to the Underworld, but allowed to return home for half the year, ushering in the Spring and new growth.
