Between Central Park and the East River, the Upper East Side of Manhattan is New York’s most affluent area. Once known as the ‘Silk Stocking District’, it is famed for its high cost of housing, schools and living, notable residents and ‘museum mile’, housing some of the most famous museums in the world, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
