Pájaro de Esperanza translates as bird of hope, a bitter twist of the knife considering the desperate scenes of dead sea birds on the pages just before. The name has deeper resonance here, however. It can be seen as the dove of peace, which symbolises the Holy Spirit, and thus completes the Trinity. It also brings to mind the dove in the story of Noah's Ark, which brings news of the receding flood waters; according to the story God gave his word never again to exact such destruction on earth.
