The Honourable Company of Archers is a ceremonial unit that serves as bodyguard to the Queen or King when in Scotland. The Company was formed in 1676 as a private archery club. Since the reign of King George IV, the Company has provided a personal bodyguard to the visiting sovereign. Located in Edinburgh, the company is today known as 'The Queen's Bodyguard for Scotland'. Its main duties are ceremonial, featuring a pipe and drum band and a ceremonial march known as 'The Archers March'.
