Woolten Pie was a dish commonly eaten in England during the Second World War. It was introduced by the Ministry of Food as a recipe that could be used at times when food was scarce. Woolten pie comprised a mixture of vegetables topped with potato pastry and grated cheese. The basic dish contained no meat, but more fortunate families added sausage or bacon when it was available.

 

The sanatorium at Tehidy was an isolation hospital in Cornwall, initially for patients with tuberculosis. In later years it dealt with other illnesses.

The hospital was originally converted from the home of the Basset family, who had obtained the 'Manor of Tehidy' in the middle of the 12th century.

The hospital closed in 1986, and was converted into luxury apartments. 250 acres of woodland and recreational facilities are available for visitors.
