Joaquín Rodrigo (1901-1999) was a Spanish composer and pianist. After contracting diptheria at the age of 3 he nearly lost his sight completely, yet went on to achive great success. Rodrigo's music counts among the most popular of the 20th century. His most famous work, Concierto de Aranjuez, was composed in 1939 in Paris.
