"contrary to the views of the old generals Kutuzov and Prince Schwartzenburg"
Charles Philip, Prince of Schwarzenberg
Prince Schwarzenberg by Sir Thomas Lawrence
(1771-1820) was an Austrian field marshall, born in Vienna and trained in the Austrian cavalry. During the War of the Third Coalition, his cavalry was one of the few parts of the Austrian army that managed to break its way through the Napoleonic encirclement of Ulm, and was therefore not forced to surrender. Despite this, he has gained a reputation as a cautious general, loathe to risk his army in battle.
