The Upper East Side is an area of Manhattan, New York. It stretches from 59th Street to 96th Street. From 5th Avenue and Central Park, the Upper East Side extends past the Mount Sinai Medical Center to 110th Street. Moving toward the East River, the Upper East Side ends where the railroad tracks emerge at 97th Street.
It includes the neighborhoods of: Yorkville, on 86th Street and Third Avenue; Carnegie Hill, centered on 94th Street and Fifth Avenue; and Lenox Hill, on 69th Street and 1st Avenue.
Once known as the "Silk Stocking District", it includes some of the most expensive real estate in the United States.
