Prison Lane existed under that name from the early days of the colony in 1634 until 1708, when it was renamed Queen Street. In 1788 its name changed again to Court Street, the appellation by which it is still known today. Lying at the heavily built-up heart of Boston’s financial district, it is hard to imagine a grass plot there now.
